Bishop Donnie Williams
He is a man who has taught and lived by these last six words of the Bible verse found in Mark 11:23 for more than 20 years....... “and he shall have whatsoever he saith.” These are strong words from a strong man. At the very beginning of his pastoral journey he attached a theme scripture over his church and his life. In the corporate world it’s called a Mission “Statement. In Bishop Donnie Williams’ world it’s called words to live by and words to stand on: ”Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” These key words found in Matthew 6:33 in the Bible, have sustained him through the peaks and valleys of every day living in an extraordinary life.
Bishop Donnie Williams is Senior Pastor and Founder of The Family Church International in Pasadena, The Family Church International has been dedicated to the ministry of reconciliation for over 20 years. In addition to his Senior Pastoral duties and overseeing additional church ministries associated with The Family Church International. He earned his seminary degrees from the International Gospel Seminary of the International Gospel Association in DeSoto, Missouri.
Prior to his calling into the ministry, his extraordinary life as a world class athlete and champion ultimately led him to the pulpit. He is a former International World Grand Karate Champion and was recently inducted into the Karate Hall of Fame. He has worked with Clint Eastwood, Jackie Chan, Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee. He also has a love for law enforcement and received his AA degree in Police Science at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, California. The story of how this unfolded and how God worked in his life keeps congregations and audiences alike on the edge of their seats, fixed and focused on the story of his very unusual circumstances that lead to his founding and overseeing churches under the banner of The Family Church International.
Not one to ever give up on his vision, Bishop Williams faced the challenges of starting a ministry first, in the living room of his home back in 1982 and continuing to relocate The Family Church more than times in 20 years as both opportunities and challenges arose. As a result, he and The Family Church became household named “An All American City,” by the United States Government. It is one of few cities in the United States of America to hold this title determined by a balanced quality of life, local businesses, schools and a balanced racial make-up of residents.
Bishop Donnie Williams was born in Savannah, Georgia. He was raised by his mother Lissie Williams and grew up with his two brothers and one sister. He served his country in Viet Nam as a Navy Hospital Corpsman attached to the 3rd Marine Division. And he has served his community by founding the Police Chaplaincy Program for the Monrovia Police Department and served as a Developer for the Los Angeles Sheriff Department Chaplaincy Program. He has received civic awards and/or commendations from the President William Jefferson Clinton: Mayor Thomas Bradley; Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich; and most recently the Family Beacon of Light Award from the California State Senate speaker of the House.
When asked about the highlights of his 20 years i ministry, he simply stated “Having the privilege and being able to speak to my congregation every Sunday and being invited to speak in the many fine corners of our world.” Bishop Williams is a dynamic speaker with an experts in sharing the truth in such an extreme and direct practical way, that it literally unlocks people’s potential. He is a people magnet and spends his life helping, encouraging, stretching, leading, and improving people that want an improved life. He is warm spirited, humorous and has genuine integrity that shines through his conversation and ever present smile.
